A previous cross-post WAR III has No Battlefield: The Supply-Chain War - the 21st century's wars are won on a ledger, not a battlefield, by CHINARB is rather naïve - every war you can think of was about supply chains, energy in particular. Even WW-I was about oil. WW-III is going to be fought in Europe. All "world wars" have been about Europe – and why is the rest of the world pulled into their conflicts?
Remember Jeffery Sachs' Open Letter to German Chancellor Merz? Apparently he didn't read it. Or, perhaps he did then in defiance did the opposite. Such is illustrated in his speech to the Bundestag: Merz SNAPS in Parliament: "Go Drink Champagne in Moscow!" – Weidel Fires Back | APT | June 11, 2026. "A dramatic confrontation unfolded in the German Bundestag as Chancellor Friedrich Merz and AfD leader Alice Weidel exchanged fierce accusations over Ukraine, migration, the economy, energy policy, and Germany's political future."
From the transcript, Chancellor Metz speaking:
0:00- The goal for Ukraine remains a just and lasting peace that also takes our security interests into account for this reason and that is why we support Ukraine. We did that yesterday. We are doing it today and we will do it tomorrow for as long as necessary.
0:31- The 90 billion Euro loan from the EU for Ukraine has been approved. We are increasing the pressure on Russia. We are taking robust actions against the Russian shadow fleet and we are starting work on a 21st sanctions package.
0:48- Ladies and Gentlemen, dear colleagues, against Russia's apparent willingness to escalate, we are strengthening NATO's eastern flank.
0:55- And at the same time, we support efforts for a negotiated solution to end the Russian war of aggression. Sustainable peace will only be in negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, USA, and Europe.
1:10- Otherwise, it will not be possible. That is why it is once again stated here: Ukraine has been defending its freedom for more than four years. And you laugh about it!
1:26- That is a telling sign, Ladies and Gentlemen. That is a telling sign. You laugh at it, about the fate of millions of people in this country and travel to Moscow for your champagne receptions. Have a good trip, Ladies and Gentlemen. Have a good trip there. Ukraine is defending not only its citizens, not only its freedom, it is also defending your freedom.
2:06- It is defending the freedom and security of all of Europe because Ukraine belongs to Europe. In the long term, it also belongs to the EU.
2:14- Ladies and Gentlemen, dear colleagues, since the awarding of the Charlemagne Prize in 2022 to Ukraine, this country has made remarkable progress in reforms. It is for this reason that I have a few days ago proposed an associated membership in the EU for Ukraine.
2:39- This would allow regular participation in the meetings of the European Council and the sectoral councils of ministers.
2:50- A Ukrainian Commissioner, still without a portfolio or voting rights, would be Kiev's face in Brussels, and deputies from Ukraine would participate in the deliberations of the European Parliament.
3:08- Ladies and Gentlemen, we would integrate Ukraine into the political sectors and the EU as quickly as possible. Of course strictly according to to the criteria and respective reform progress.
3:16- This is what the people want in Ukraine. This is what Europe wants. We will take this path together, Ladies and Gentlemen. And precisely because we are so committed to peace and freedom in the world. I repeat this here.

The second part of the broadcast is a strong rebuttal from AfD leader Alice Weidel.
So there you have it - until Merz is replaced, the die is cast, Europe is on the fast-track to war.
To celebrate Iran's victory over the two-headed Empire, try making some Iranian sugar cookies. This recipe is about as close as possible using local ingredients. The key is that it is a sourdough cookie. To make Iranian sugar cookies, start with this recipe from King Arthur Baking, and try to use some "00" flour for cookies and pastry. Instead of only almond extract, replace some or all with rose water and perhaps some ground cardamom. Make them 35 grams instead of 25 grams so that they end up about 6 cm diameter. Roll in fine granulated sugar instead of regular sugar.
